initially we have 1 cell in the bacteria

so after 1 hr --> 2 cells

              2 hr--> 4cells

             3 hr--> 8cells

             4 hr--> 16 cells

             5 hr--> 32 cells

             6 hr--> 64 cells

             7 hr--> 128 cells

             8 hr --> 256 cells

so after 8 hr bacteria will have 256 cells or  2.56* 10^2 cells

ALTERNATIVELY

since bacteria cells grow according to 2^n (where n is no of hours)

after 8 hrs

no of cells in bacteria =2^8 =256 cells or  2.56* 10^2 cells
