With of strip = 50/100 = 0.5 m
length of carpet = 18 - 1 = 17m
width of carpet = 12.5 - 1 = 11.5 m
Area of carpet = 17 x 11.5 = 195.5m²
area of uncovered portion = 18 x 12.5 - 195.5 = 29.5 m²
