Area of carpet = lb
=22*15.5
=341m^2

Area of strip left uncovered=2(22*0.75)+2(15.5*0.75)
=33+23.5
=56.5 m^2

The area of carpet would be 287 m² and area of strip would be 54 m²

Area of Carpet would be equal to the area of rectangle with dimensions

(22-0.75 -0.75 =) 20.5 m and ( 15.5-0.75-0.75 ) = 14 m

The area of the carpet would be equal to

14* 20.5 = 287 m²

The area of strip would be equal to area of hall - area of carpet

= 22*15.5 - 14*20.5

= 341 - 287 m²

= 54 m²
