Hi,

There is no “energy producing” organelle in biological cells.

The mitochondrion, via the cellular respiration reactions, is not “producing energy” — it is making already existing energy (originating in the sun) easy to access by the cell, by converting (“repackaging”) potential energy stored in chemical bonds of pyruvate, to another form of chemical bond energy, stored in adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the ubiquitous cell “energy token.”
