Considering a without replacement condition, if two cards are drawn together from a pack of 52 cards, then to calculate the probability of picking up a queen and a jack,
Let S be the sample space.
Then, n(S) = 52C2 = 26×51 = 1326.
Let E = event of getting a queen and a jack
n(E) = number of ways of choosing a jack out of 4 and a queen out of 4
= 4C1 × 4C1
= 4×4
= 16
Hence, P(E) = 16 / 1326
= 8 / 663 = 0.01207
