The change in pressure has also an important effect on equilibrium which involve gaseous substances

and there is change in total number of moles of gases in reactants and products. if the pressure of the

gaseous system is increased the volume occupied by the system will decrease and the equilibrium will shift

towards that direction in which there are lesser no of moles of gaseous substances .

Answer the following on the basis of the above paragraph:

(i) According to which principle there is shift in the equilibrium of gaseous system if pressure is

increased.

(ii) If pressure is increased in which direction the equilibrium will shift in the following reaction

N2(g) + 3H2(g) 2NH3(g)
