Given  : watt governor when its speed increases from 70 rpm to 72 rpm is

To Find :

change in vertical height

Solution:

 h = g / ω²

ω = 2πN/60

N =   rpm

g = 9.8  m/s²

h = 9.8  / ( 2π * 70 /60)²

=> h = 9.8/ (22/3)²

=> h = 0.1822   m

watt governor   rotates at 70 R.P.M  => vertical height = 0.1822   m

= 182.2 mm

speed will be 72 R.P.M.

h = 9.8  / ( 2π * 72 /60)²  =  0.1772

= 177.2 mm

change of height  =  182.2   - 177.2

= 5mm
