Hellen Keller is the main character of novel The Story Of My Life.
She was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama, the USA on 27 June, 1880. She suffered a serious illness at the age of nineteen months that left her blind and deaf. Even then she had an inclination to perform household chores such as folding laundry and tried to remain as much a part of the family as possible.
Hellen Keller had overcome the seemingly insurmountable obstacles of deafness and blindness to become an icon of perseverance, respected and a letter from a writer that she quoted in her autobiography. Keller devoted much of life to raising funds for the American Foundation for the Blind. She died on 1 June, 1968 at her home, Argon Ridge, Connecticut.
