Natalya Stepanovna is the 2nd importantvcharacter of the play,The Proposal.She is a young girl of twenty five years but not married yet.She is the daughter of Chubukov and lives in the neighbourhood of Lomov.She is not bad looking. She is a cause of much worry to her father who wishes to see her happy married life. She is Quarrelsome and abusivecby nature.When Lomov comes to propose her for marriage she begins a bitter quarrel with him over astrip of land(oxen meadows)that of little value.She abuses and condemns him without having passions to listen to the whole story of Lomov.She claims tge meadows to be hers.When she comes to know that he had come to propose her,she forgets,all about fairness and unfairness She begins to wail over tge last chance . She than insists upon her father to call him back.When Lomov comes back,she submitts to him and os willing to accept him as her husband.But she again quarrels with him over their dogs.
