If it only contain electrons;

then total charge = no. of electrons * charge of 1 electron

-4.8 * 10 ^ -19 = n * -1.6 * 10 ^ -19

n = 3

But if there are protons as well, then the no. of electrons is 3 more than no. of protons. That is if no. of electrons is n then no. of protons is n-3
