The charge that flows through the cell on closing the key k as shown in circuit is CV/4

  1. When the key is open then charge will flow through all the cell
  2. Finding the equivalent of all cells
  3. the cells are in series so there equivalent is  C+C+C=3C
  4. then the combination of 3 cell is in series with C
  5. so  Ceq= \frac{C X 3C}{C+3C} =3C/4
  6. the charge flowing is q = Ceq x V = 3CV/4
  7. Now when the key is closed charge is passing through only one cell Cq^{'} = CV
  8. the charge that flows through the cell on closing the key k as shown in circuit is  CV-3CV/4=CV/4
