the chemical formula of sodium chloride is nacl and chemical formula of zinc chloride is zncl2 why it is so explain?

because when sodium react with chlorine it's forms sodium chloride.,similarly with Zn an class.

Because of valency.
Valency of sodium = + 1
Valency of chloride = - 1

So it form a Compound NACL.

Na. Cl

+1. -1


So by crossing method
Multiple by exchange no.
So it form NACL


valency of chloride = - 1
Valency of zinc. = + 2

So it form a Compound ZnCL 2
By crossing method

Zn. Cl.

+2. -1


Do the crossing multiple so it form ZnCL 2...
