Hyperion in today's world-the continuing saga of Generation Gap
by
A
Today's world is not far ahead or behind the ancient world or the middle ages when it comes to generation gap.
Every generation has the same story. The previous generation always asserts that there generation belonged to the golden age and the current generation is most uncivilized.
No wonder John Keats, the great Romantic poet took to writing his magnum opus- Hyperion, on the theme of Generation Gap. Every generation witnesses the transition of a child to its adolescence and then to adulthood.
This ushers in a sea change in the attitude, personality and outlook of a person. The current scenario with its technological advancement, globalization, the easy access to internet, online shopping and the smart phone has fanned the over smartness of today's young.
The children have become more arrogant and stubborn. Their new voyage to freedom has emboldened them. They have purposefully and conveniently chosen to forget their culture and tradition.
This has turned them into a non-caring, adamant and head strong bunch of youth. They no longer respect their parents and elders.
Neither do they pay heed to their choices of dresses or ethics. If this current trend continues the world will be left with a bunch of obstinate children suffering from the bug of Generation Gap.
