Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1 : With centre O, draw a circle of radius 3 cm.

Mark a point P on the circle.

Step 2 : With P as centre and radius equal to 5 cm draw an arc to cut the circle at Q. Join P and Q.

PQ is the required chord of length 5 cm.

Answer:

Radius of a circle is 5cm

therefore OA= 5cm

perpendicular drawn to the chord from the  centre bisects the chord

therefore AM=MB

triangle OMA is right angled triangle at M

∠OMA=90∘

by apply pythogoras theorm

OA2=OM2+MA2

MA=OA2−OM2

 MA=52−32

MA=16

MA=4

therefore the length of chord AB=2MA

AB=8cm
