The chords of a circle equidistant from the centre of a circle are congruent .

Given : In a circle with centre O .
seg OP perpendicular chord AB , A - P - B
seg OQ perpendicular chord CD , C - Q - D . OP = OQ

To prove : Chord AB congruents chord CD .

Construction : Draw seg OA and seg OD .

Answer:

given centre o let oa, ob, oc, odare the radius joined to each end of both the chords

so oa =oc

ob=od

angle aoc =angle bod

therefore they are congruent.
