Answer:

(i) Area = 353.429 m²

(ii) Perimeter = 77.12 m

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that,

Width of the track is 30 m and total length is 42 m.

Now,

We are told that, those two are semicircles, which has a width or diameter of 30m

Thus, its Radius = D/2 = 30/2 = 15 m

(Now to understand it better I have posted an image, please do refer it.)

Now,

(i) Area of Semicircle = (πr²)/2

= (3.14 × 15 × 15)/2

= (706.858)/2

= 353.429 m²

(ii)

Here we must be careful because, they have asked us the total perimeter of the semicircle,

We know that,

Perimeter of the semicircle = arc(AEC) + AC

We know that,

Arc AEC is a semicircle so its perimeter = (2πr)/2

= πr

= 3.14 × 15

= 47.12 m

AC = 30 m (Diameter)

Thus,

Perimeter of the semicircle = 30 + 47.12 = 77.12 m

Hope it helped and you understood it........All the best
