We know that r = d/2 (or) d = 2r.

Given circumference of a circle exceeds diameter by 120cm.

2 * 22/7 * r - 2r = 120

44r  - 14r/7 = 120

30r/7 = 120

r = 120 * 7/30

   = 28.

Diameter = 2 * r = 56.

Circumference of the circle = 2 * 22/7 * 28

                                              = 176 cm.

Answer:

Diameter=56cm, Circumference = 176 cm

Explanation:

We know that r = d/2 (or) d = 2r.

Given circumference of a circle exceeds diameter by 120cm.

2 * 22/7 * r - 2r = 120

44r  - 14r/7 = 120

30r/7 = 120

r = 120 * 7/30

= 28.

Diameter = 2 * r = 56.

Circumference of the circle = 2 * 22/7 * 28  = 176 cm.

Circumference-The perimeter of a circle or ellipse is known as its circumference in geometry (from the Latin circumferens, meaning "carrying around"). In other words, if the circle were to be opened out and straightened out into a line segment, the circumference would be the length of the circle's arc.The curve length around any closed figure is more often referred to as the perimeter. The term "circumference" can also refer to the circle's actual location, which corresponds to a disk's edge. A sphere's circumference is equal to the length of any one of its great circles.
