First we have to know the formula, so that we can find the answer easily.

Formula :-

Circumference = π × diameter

Diameter = 2 × radius

Substituting the formula of diameter in circumference, we get

Circumference = 2 × π × radius

Solution :-

Circumference = 462 cm

=> 462 cm = 2 \times \pi \times radius\\ \\ => radius=\frac{462 cm}{2 \times \pi} \\ \\Taking\: \: \pi\:  \:as \:\: \frac{22}{7}  . \\ \\ => radius=\frac{462\: cm\times7}{2\times22}\\ \\ => radius=\frac{3234\: cm}{44} \\ \\=> radius=73.5\:cm

Answer :-

Radius = 73.5 cm

Note :-

  • Why I have taken π as 22/7 not 3.14. I have taken π as 22/7, so that the fraction part can easily be divided.
  • It is also not mentioned in the question what value we have to take for pi.

Formula

circumference = \pi \: d \\ diameter = 2r \\  \\   =  > radius =  \frac{462cm}{2 \times \pi}  \\  \\   \:  \: taking \: \pi \: as \:  \frac{22}{7}  \\  \\=  > radius =  \frac{462cm \times 7}{44}  \\  \\  > radius =  \frac{3234}{44}  \\  \\ 3234 \div 44 = 73.5 \\  \\  =  > radius = 73.5 \\  \\ so \: hence \: \\ answer \:  = 73.5 \\  \\  \\  \\  \\ hope \: it \: helps
