Question :

                     The circumference of a circular garden is 572 m. outside the garden a road of width 3.5 m runs around it. Calculate the cost of repairing the road at the rate of rs . 3.75 per square meter.

Solution :

                  2πr₂ = 572

                  r₁ = 572 / 2 × 22 × 7

                  r₁ = 91 m

r₂ = r₁ + width of Road

              = 91 + 3.5 = 94.5 m

Area of Road = πr₂²- πr₁²

                      = 22/7 [( 94.5)² - (91)²

                      = 22/7 [8930.25 - 8281]

                      = 2040.5 m²

Total cost = 2040.5 × 3.75

                = 7651.875 Rs.

Answer:

2πr₂ = 572

                  r₁ = 572 / 2 × 22 × 7

                  r₁ = 91 m

r₂ = r₁ + width of Road

              = 91 + 3.5 = 94.5 m

Area of Road = πr₂²- πr₁²

                      = 22/7 [( 94.5)² - (91)²

                      = 22/7 [8930.25 - 8281]

                      = 2040.5 m²

Total cost = 2040.5 × 3.75

                = 7651.875 Rs.
