Question :-

the circumference of the base of 12 high conical tent is 66 metre find the volume of the air contained in it ?

Answer :-

Given,

  • circumference of base is 66 m .
  • height of the tent is 12 m .

the circumference of the circle = 2πr

=> substituting the values we get ;

66=2.22/7.r

=> 66.7/2.22 = r

=> 10.5m =r

so , r(radius) = 10.5m

now we have to find the volume of the cone ;

Formula to be used ;

1/3πr^2h

substituting the value we get .

=>1/3.22/7.(10.5).12

=> 1386 m ^3

the volume of the air contained in it is 1386 metre cube.

  • Note here "." is representing multiplication .

Question

the circumference of the base of a 12 metre high conical tent is 66 metre find the volume of the contained air in it ?

Solution

circumference of base = 66m

height of tent = 12m

Circumference or perimeter of circle = 2πr

putting the value in the formula to 2πr we get;

=> 66=2×22/7×r

=> r = 66×7/2×22

=>r = 105 m

to find the volume of cone = 1/3πr^2h

putting the value in the formula we get ;

= 1/3×22/7×105×12

= 1386 m ^3

the volume of the air contained in the tent is 1386 metre cube .

Additional information

  • the value of π is 22/7 or in approximate 3.1428 ( approx )
  • circumference of circle = 2πr
  • volume of cone = 1/3πr^2h
  • the circumference of perimeter can also be calculated by multiplying 2 X radius of a circle
