Answer:

circumference = 2 x 22 x r/7

                66 = 44r/7

                 3  = 2r/7

                 21 = 2r

                 r = 10.5

Volume of cylinder=pie*(r)^2*h

Volume of cylinder = 22 x r x r x h/7

                      = 22 x 10.5 x 10.5 x 40/7

                      = 97020/7

                      = 13860cm^3

Given,

The circumference of the base of a cylinder is 66cm and its height is 40 cm.

To Find,

The volume of the cylinder =?

Solution,

We can find the volume of the cylinder as follows:

It is given to us that the circumference of the base of a cylinder is 66 cm and its height is 40 cm. We have to find its volume.

First, we need to find the radius of the cylinder.

It is given,

Circumference of the base of the cylinder = 66\: cm

We know,

Circumference of a circle = 2\pi r

Where, r = radius\: of\: the\: circle

Therefore,

2\pi r = 66\: cm

2*\frac{22}{7}*r = 66

r = 66*\frac{7}{22}*\frac{1}{2}

r = 10.5\: cm

Now,

The height of the cylinder = 40 cm

The radius of the cylinder = 10.5 cm

The volume of a cylinder = \pi r^{2} h

Substituting the values in the above formula,

Volume = \frac{22}{7} *(10.5)^{2}*40

             13860\: cm^{3}

Hence, the volume of the cylinder is 13860 cm^3.
