Given

  • Circumference of the base of a right circular cylinder = 132 cm
  • Height = 10 cm

To find

  • Curved surface area

Procedure

  • We have the value of circumference of the base of a right circular cylinder. By substituting the value in its formula we will find the value of radius. After finding the value of radius we will substitute the given value in the formula of curved surface area.

• Formulae to be used -

  • Circumference of a right circular cylinder = 2πr
  • Curved surface area = πrh

Solution

• Circumference of the base of a right circular cylinder = 132 cm

Circumference of a right circular cylinder ⇒ 2πr

where,

  • r = radius

Substituting the given values,

⇒ 132 = 2 × 22/7 × r

⇒ r = 21

  • Radius = 21 cm

• Radius = 21 cm

• Height = 10 cm

Curved surface area = πrh

Substituting the given values,

⇒ 22/7 × 21 × 10

⇒ 660 cm²

  • Curved Surface area = 660 cm²
