the circumference of the base of the cylinder is 12m and its height is 77m find the volume of cylinder
Answers
volume of the cylinder = 2 * 22/7 * r = 12meters (given as circumference)
r = 12*7 / 2*22 = 84/44 = 1.90 meters = Radius
Volume of the cylinder = πr²h = 22/7 * 1.90² * 77m = 873.62 meters²
Given :-
• The circumference of the base of the cylinder is 12 m
• Its height is 77 m
To find :-
• The Volume of the cylinder .
Solution :-
Given that
The height of a cylinder = (h) = 77 m
Let the radius of the cylinder be r m
The Circumference of the base of the cylinder = 12 m
We know that
The base of the cylinder is in the shape of circle.
The Circumference of the base of the cylinder = The Circumference of the circle = 2πr units
=> 2πr = 12
=> 2×(22/7)×r = 12
=> (2×22×r)/7 = 12
=> (44×r)/7 = 12
=> 44×r = 12×7
=> 44r = 84
=> r = 84/44
=> r = (4×21)/(4×11)
=> r = 21/11 m
Radius of the cylinder = 21/11 m
We know that
Volume of a cylinder = πr²h cubic units
Volume of the given circle
=> V = (22/7)×(21/11)²×77 m³
=> V = (22/7)×(21/11)×(21/11)×77
=> V = (22×21×21×77)/(7×11×11)
=> V = (22×21×21×77)/(77×11)
=> V = 2×21×21
=> V = 882 m³
Therefore, Volume = 882 m³
Answer :-
• The Volume of the cylinder is 882 m³
Used formulae:-
→ The Circumference of a circle = 2πr units
→ The Volume of a cylinder = πr²h cubic units
- r = radius
- h = height
- π = 22/7
Points to know:-
• A cylinder is a solid (3-dimensional figure).
• Curved Surface Area of a cylinder = 2πrh sq.units
• Total Surface Area of a cylinder = 2πr(r+h) sq.units
• The base of the cylinder is in the shape of a circle.
