Hi ,
According to the data given ,
number of fire engines = 28 --( 1 )
number of fire trucks = 36 -----( 2 )
Required ratio = ( 1 ) / ( 2 )
= 28 / 36
To write it in its simplest form we
have to find the HCF of 28 and 36
28 = 2 × 2 × 7
36 = 2 × 2 × 3 × 3
HCF ( 28 , 36 ) = 2 × 2 = 4
Now divide numerator and denominator
With HCF we get simplest form
Ratio = ( 28 / 4 ) / ( 36 / 4 )
= 7 / 9
I hope this helps you.
