The class mark of a distribution are : 47,52,57,62,and 67. Determine 1. class size and 2. class limit .

Solution :

Given class mark ( xi ) :

47, 52 , 57, 62 and 67

Class size ( h ) = Difference

between any two consecutive

class marks

= 52 - 47

= 5

Now ,

class limits :

( xi - h/2 , xi + h/2 )

= ( 47 - 5/2 , 47 + 5/2 )

= ( 47 - 2.5 , 47 + 2.5 )

= ( 44.5 , 49.5 )

Therefore ,

class size ( h ) = 5

Class limits v:

44.5 - 49.5

49.5 - 54.5

54.5 - 59.5

59.5 - 64.5

64.5 - 69.5
