2. Accumulation of changes in the body design of recent organisms has given them better chances of survival. However, the body design of recent and older or may be extinct organisms remains the same.

An archaeopteryx is considered a connecting link between reptiles and bird.Archeoptryx had teeth, claws and long hind legs like reptiles. It has feathered tail, wings and beaks like bird.All reptiles and birds are vertebrates which means they possess the vertebral column.They are triploblastic (body composed of three embryonic layers)Some, changes occured in some reptiles which helped them to evolve as a separate class of bird.
