The molecules of air and other fine particles in the atmosphere have sizes smaller than the wavelength of visible light.When sunlight passes through the atmosphere these molecules ande the fine particles scatter blue light of shorter wavelength more strongly than red light of longer wavelengt.When this scattered blue light reaches our eye,it makes the sky appears blue.
