EXPLANATION:

The caterpillars eat mulberry leaves and after a month, they stop eating the leaves and start spinning a cocoon by themselves. They start shedding its skin and turn into a pupa inside the cocoon after few weeks. At this phase, the pupas are been soaked into boiling waters to loosen the silk thread. Thus it takes nearly five cocoons to make a single silk thread.
