γ=Coefficient of cubical expansion,β=Coefficient of Superficial expansion
γ=xβ and 2β=3γ , γ=2/3β
So, for
A) x=1.5 , γ=2/3×1.5=1                                Ans.
B) x=2  , γ=2/3×2=1.3333334                       Ans.
C) x=2.5  ,γ=2/3×2.5=1.66666664                 Ans.
D) x=3 , γ=2/3×3=2                                     Ans.

Explanation:

the value of x is 3/2

Explanation:

As we know the relation between linear expansion, superficial expansion and volume expansion is given as

\alpha : \beta : \gamma = 1 : 2 : 3α:β:γ=1:2:3

so we can say that

\beta = 2\alphaβ=2α

\gamma = 3\alphaγ=3α

now from above equations

\frac{\beta}{\gamma} = \frac{2}{3}

γ

β

=

3

2

so the superficial expansity is 2/3 times the cubic expansity

so the value of x is 3/2
