Given :

The coefficient of superficial expansion of the solid = 2 * 10 ^(-5) / degree celcius

To find :

The coefficient of linear expansion .

Solution :

The coefficient of linear expansion = ( coefficient of superficial expansion ) / 2

=> coefficient of linear expansion = 2 * 10 ^(-5) / 2

=> coefficient of linear expansion = 10 ^(-5)

The coefficient of linear expansion is 10 ^(-5) / degree celcius .
