When magnesium ribbon (Mg) is added in copper sulphate (CuSO4) solution it gives magnesium sulphate (MgSO4) solution and copper ( Cu) metal . Magnesium displaces Copper as it is more reactive than copper .This is a type of single displacement reaction .
The colour of solution is blue due to presence of copper sulphate and it is changes into white colour due to formation of magnesium sulphate.
