Let the present ages be like -

Father - x ; Son - y  Now,

x+y = 60      -----(1)

12 years before the present ages reduce by 12 years,

x-12 = 5(y-12)        (given)      or

5y-x = 48     -----(2)

Adding (1) and (2) we get

6y = 108     or

y = 17           ------(3)

Substituting (3) in (1) we get

x = 43

Thus, Father's age is 43 years and

Son's age is 17 years.
