Let the angles be x and 5x as their ratio is 1 : 5 .

We know that sum of complementary angles is 90 .

So ,

x + 5x = 90

6x = 90

x = 15

First angle = x = 15

Second angle = 5x = 75

GIVEN:

  • The complementary angles are in the ratio 1:5

TO FIND:

  • What is the measure of angles ?

SOLUTION:

Let 'x' be the common in given ratios

  • One angle = x
  • Another angle = 5x

We know that, the sum of complementary angles is 90°

According to question:-

\rm{\rightharpoonup x + 5x = 90 }

\rm{\rightharpoonup 6x = 90 }

\rm{\rightharpoonup x = \cancel\dfrac{90}{6} }

\bf{\rightharpoonup x = 15°}

❛ The value of 'x' is 15° ❜

Now, we have to find the angles

One angle = x = 15°

Another angle = 5(15) = 75°

❛ Hence, the measure of angles is 15° and 75°
