The Security Council is composed of fifteen UN member States, five of which are permanent members -- United States, the United Kingdom, France, the Russian Federation, and China. The permanent members have the power to 'veto' a substantive decision of the Council by voting against it.

The security council is the most important organ of the UN . They are of two type permanent and non permanent . The five members USA, UK, Russia , China, France etc. are known as permanent member . The other 10 members are known as non permanent member which are not elected by security council nor general council
