Given:-

→Mass of solute dissolved = 8g

→Concentration of the solution (w/v) = 4%

To find:-

→Volume of the solution

Solution:-

Let the volume of the solution be x mL.

We know that, concentration of a solution in terms of mass by volume percentage is :-

Mass of Solute/Volume of solution×100

Hence, by applying this formula we get the volume of solution as:-

=> 8/x×100 = 4

=> 800 = 4(x)

=> 800 = 4x

=> x = 800/4

=> x = 200mL

Thus,volume of the solution is 200mL.

Some Extra Information:-

The Concentration of a solution is the amount of solute present in a given amount (mass or volume) of solution, or the amount of solute dissolved in a given mass or volume of solvent.

There are various ways of expressing the concentration of a solution like:-

(i) Mass by mass percentage

(ii) Mass by volume percentage

(iii) Volume by volume percentage

We have,

Conc. of CuSO4 solution = 4% (w/v)

Mass of CuSO4 (solute) = 8 g

Let, the volume of water and CuSO4 = (x) mL

We know,

w/v% of conc. = (Mass of solute)/(Volume of Solution) × 100%

⇒ (8)/(x) × 100 = 4

⇒ 4x = 800

⇒ x = 200 mL {Answer}
