Answer :-

Volume of the solution is 23.39 mL .

Explanation :-

We have :-

→ Concentration = 4 %

→ Mass of solvent = 42 g

→ Density of solution = 1.87 g/mL

________________________________

Let the mass of the solute, be 'x grams' .

So, mass of solution :-

= Mass of solute + Mass of solvent

= (x + 42) g

________________________________

Putting values in the formula of mass by mass percentage concentration, we get :-

⇒ Mass of solute/Mass of solution × 100

⇒ x/(x + 42) × 100 = 4

⇒ 100x = 4(x + 42)

⇒ 100x = 4x + 168

⇒ 96x = 168

⇒ x = 168/96

⇒ x = 1.75 g

Mass of the solution :-

= Mass of solute + Mass of solvent

= (1.75 + 42) g

= 43.75 g

Volume of the solution :-

= Mass/Density

= 43.75/1.87

= 4375/187

≈ 23.39 mL

Answer:

Question :-

  • The concentration of a solution by mass percentage is 4% and mass of the solvent is 42g.Find the volume of the solution, if the density of the solution is 1.87g/mL.

Answer :-

  • The volume of the solution =23.39mL.

Given :-

  • The concentration of a solution by mass percentage is 4% and mass of solvent is 42g.

To find :-

  • The volume of solution.

Explanation :-

  • Consider,
  • The mass of solute be' x 'g

  • We know that,

  • Mass of solution =mass of solute+mass of the given solvent.
  • According to the given question,
  •  = (x + 42)g

\mathcal\red{Now,}

  • Finding mass percentage concentration

  • We know that

  = \frac{mass \: of \: solute}{mass \: of \: solution}  \times 100

  •    \frac{x}{x + 42}  \times 100 = 4

  • 100x = 4(x + 42)

  • 100x = 4x + 168

  • 100x - 4x = 168

  • 96x = 168

  • x =  \frac{168}{96}  = 1.75g.

  • Now here we get value of x .

  • Applying value of x in the mass of solution formulae we get that,

 = mass \: of \: solute + mass \: of \: solvent

  •  = x + 42 = 1.75 + 42 = 43.75g

《According to the given question we should find the volume of solution 》

\mathcal\purple{So,}

  • To find volume we know the one formula that is ,

volume \: of \: solution =  \frac{mass}{density}

  • Now applying the values we get that,

  • volume =  \frac{43.75}{1.87}

  • Here to get answer we should multiply 100 on both then we that,

  • volume =  \frac{4375}{187}
  • volume = 23.39mL

\mathcal\purple{Therefore ,}

  • The volume of solution=23.39 mL.

\mathcal\red{Used formulae:-}

  • Here we used to get volume of solution answer by ,

  •  \frac{mass}{density}

Hope it helps u mate .

\mathcal\purple{Thank you.}
