The conductivity of 0.00282 M acetic acid is 6.25 × 10 -5 S cm-1 . Calculate the degree of dissociation and dissociation constant, if the value of molar conductivity at infinite dilution for HCl, NaCl and CH3COONa are 426.1, 126.5, and 91.0 S cm2 mol–1 respectively

Explanation:

Steps of construction:

(i) Draw a line segment AB = 6 cm

(ii) With centre A and radius more than 1/2(AB) draw the arcs on each side of AB.

(iii) With centre B and same radius draw the arcs on each side of AB, which cuts the previously drawn arcs at X and Y.

(iv) Join XY which cuts the line segment AB at O.

Thus XY is the perpendicular bisector of AB. On measuring the two parts, we get AO = OB = 3 cm
