Option A is correct – River Damodar is no more the river of sorrow for West Bengal.

The river Damodar runs a distance of 25,235 square kilometres across the states of Jharkhand and West Bengal. It used to cause widespread damage and loss of life, when it broke its banks. Up until the early twentieth century, it had caused havoc along its route.

The Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) is a government project, to control this wild river and to set up power projects in West Bengal and Jharkhand.  It was set up in 1948.
