Formula. If (x₁, y₁) and (x₂, y₂) be the given two points lying on a line segment, then the coordinates of their mid-point are given by

( (x₁ + x₂)/2, (y₁ + y₂)/2 )

Solution.

The given points are A (0, 2y) and B (2x, 0).

Given, C be the mid-point of the line segment AB. Then the coordinates of C are

( (0 + 2x)/2, (2y + 0)/2 )

i.e., ( 2x/2, 2y/2 )

i.e., (x, y)

the co-ordinates of the mid-point C are (x, y).
