m= 1

n=2

Using section formula,

x=  mx₂+ nx₁ / m+n

y=   my₂+ ny₁ / m+n

Substituting the values,

x= 1 (4) + 2(1) / 1+ 2

 =  4+2/ 3

  = 6/3

   = 2

y=  1(7) + 2(-2) / 1 +2

 = 7+ (-4) / 3

  = 3/3

   = 1
