given, A (0, -1) B (2, 1) and C (0, 3)

to find: length of the median through B

median always bisects the opposite side of the triangle.

therefore a median from B bisects the side AC

which means we have to get the coordinates of the mid-point of AC and then using distance formula length can be calculated.

=> if D is the mid point if AC, its coordinates are

D (x, y) = [(x1+x2)/2, (y1+y2)/2]

D x = (0+0)/2 = 0

D y = (-1+3)/2 = 1

therefore coordinates of D = (0, 1)

length of the median BD (2, 1) and (0, 1) is

=> √[(x2-x1)^2 + (y2-y1)^2]

=> √[(0-2)^2 + (1-1)^2

=> √[((-2)^2 + (0)

=> √ (4)

=> 2 units

length of the median BD = 2 units

option B is the answer
