Any point on X-axis has co-ordinates of form (x,0)

∴(x1,y1)=(6,−3) and (x2,y2)=(x,0) and d=5

∴d=√(x2−x1)2+(y2−y1)2

5=√(x−6)2+[0−(−3)]2=

√(x−6)2+32

Squaring on both sides 52((x−6)2+9)2

25=x2−12x+36+9

x2−12x+45−25=0⇒x2−12x+20=0⇒(x−10)(x−2)=0

∴x−10=0 or x−2=0⇒x=10 or
