The energy flow follows the path - (b) Producers ➝Herbivores ➝Carnivores ➝ Decomposers

Plants are organisms which produce food using sunlight by the process of photosynthesis. Thus they are the first level of organisms receiving energy.

The flow of energy occurs only 10 % from one level to another. Now, the plants are eaten by herbivores or the ones feeding on plants.

Example of herbivores are cow, sheep. They are further consumed by carnivores or the ones feeding on animals. Carnivores are lion, eagle etc.

The death of these organisms starts work of decomposers. These are microbes which feed on dead plants and animals.

They play important role as they transfer nutrients back to soil, for nourishment of plants.
