CP of 12 candles = x

CP of 1 candle = x/12

SP of 15 candles = x

SP of 1 candle = x/15

loss = CP - SP

= x/12 - x/15

=( 5x - 4x )/60

= x/60

loss % = (100x )/60(x/12)

= 20%

Answer:

The loss percentage is 20%.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that cost of 12 candles is equal to the selling price of 15 candles.

CP\times 12=SP\times 15

\frac{CP}{SP}=\frac{15}{12}

\frac{CP}{SP}=\frac{5}{4}

It means the ratio of CP and SP is 5:4.

Let the CP of candle be 5x ans SP of candle be 4x.

Formula for loss percent is

loss\%=\frac{CP-SP}{CP}\times 100

loss\%=\frac{5x-4x}{5x}\times 100

loss\%=\frac{x}{5x}\times 100

loss\%=\frac{1}{5}\times 100

loss\%=20

Therefore the loss percentage is 20%.
