The rate of commision charged = 2%

Given:

The cost of 400 sacks of rice, each at Rs.12.5 , together with the dealer's commission amounted to Rs.5100

To find:

The rate that the dealer charged

Solution:

Given the cost of rice per each sack = 12.5 Rs

then cost of 400 sacks of rice = 400 × 12.5 Rs = 5000

Then total cost amounted will be = 5000 + commission charged

⇒ From given data, 5000 + commission charged = Rs.5100

⇒ Commision charged = 5100 - 5000 = 100 Rs

Rate of commision = (commision /total cost) × 100

= (100/5000)(100) = 2%

The rate of commision charged = 2%
