Solution :

Let us assume that, the cost of chair is "x" and the cost of table is "y" respectively.

According to the given question,

As it is given that, the cost of a chair and a table is Rs 1500.

→ x + y = 1500

→ y = 1500 - x ............(1)

As it is also given that, the cost of table is 4 times the cost of chair.

→ 4x = y ............(2)

Substitute the value of "y" equation (1) in equation (2).

→ 4x = y

→ 4x = 1500 - x

→ 4x + x = 1500

→ 5x = 1500

→ x = 1500/5

→ x = 300 ............(3)

Now, substitute the value of "x" in equation (2)

→ 4x = y

→ 4 * 300 = y

→ 1200 = y

→ y = 1200

Hence, the cost of table is chair is Rs.300 and the cost of table is Rs.1200.
