Cost of 10 gel pens and 8 ball pens

(10×25) + (8×20)

250 + 160

₹410

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the cost of 1 ball pen be x.

Then, Cost of 1 gel pen be

= (x + x×25/100)

= (x + 25x/100)

= (100x+25x)/100

= 125x/100

= 5x/4

According to question,

Cost of 8 gel pens and 10 ball pens is ₹400.

8×(5x/4) + 10×x = 400

40x/4 + 10x = 400

(40x + 40x)/4 = 400

80x = 400×4

80x = 1600

x = 1600/80 = 20

Cost of 1 ball pen is ₹20.

Then, finding Cost of 1 gel pen,

5x/4 = (5×20)/4 = 100/4 = ₹25.

Cost of 1 ball pen is ₹20.

Cost of 1 gel pen is ₹25.

Cost of 10 gel pens and 8 ball pens

(10×25) + (8×20)

250 + 160

₹410
