the cost of a notebook is rs 5 more than that of a pen and the total cost of 4 pens and 5 notebooks is rs 88. find the cost of one pen and notebook

Let the cost of the pen=x
Then the cost of the notebook will be x+5
Acc. to the question-  4x + 5(x+5)=88
                              = 4x + 5x + 25=88
                              = 9x = 88-25
                             = 9x =  63
                             = x = 63/9
                                  =7
            
             So cost of one pen is Rs.7 and 1 note. is x + 5=Rs.(7+5)= Rs. 12

Let, cost of one pen = a cost of a notebook = a+5 ATQ, 4a + 5(a+5)= 88 4a + 5a +25 = 88 9a = 88- 25 = 63 a = 63/9 = 7 Hence, cost of one notebook is 12 rs. cost of one pen is 7 rs.
