Given that,

Cost of pen = Rs 2x + 3

Cost of pencil = Rs y - 4

To find,

The cost of 5 pens and 3 pens.

Solution:

Cost of 1 pen = Rs 2x + 3

Then, Cost of 5 pens = 5 ( 2x + 3 )

                                  = Rs. 10x + 15

The cost of 1 pencil = Rs y - 3.

Then, Cost of 3 pencils = 3 ( y - 3 )

                                      = Rs 3y - 9.

Therefore their cost together = (10x + 15) + (3y - 9)

                                              = Rs (10x + 3y + 6)
