The cost of a piece of 1 ¾ metres of a cloth is Rs 29. Manisha purchases 14 pieces of cloth.

Solve the following:

(i) Convert 1 ¾ in improper fraction

(ii) Write 1 ¾ in decimal form

(iii) Convert Rs 29 in paise

(iv) Find the cost of 1 metre cloth

(v) Find the amount manisha has to pay for it and how much total length of cloth is purchased by her?​

Answer:

i. 1¾ = 7/4

ii. 1¾ = 7/4 = 1.75

iii. Rs. 1 = 100p

rs. 29 = 29×100 = 22900p

iv. Cost of 1¾m cloth = Rs 29

cost of 1 m cloth = 29 × 7/4

= rs. 50.75

v. No. of pieces = 14

length of 1 piece = 14 ÷ 7/4

= 14×4/7

= 8m

Cost of 1m cloth = rs. 50.75

cost of 8m cloth = 50.75×8

= rs. 406
